I feel like I’ve told this story a hundred times and I can’t remember if I told it on the blog and I’m too lazy to go back and look. See that’s the thing, after I spend hours editing pictures and I’m ready to blog I’m too tired to write anything cute or clever. So the story goes I’m in Vegas at WPPI. I’m late to Dane Sanders platform speech and they won’t let me in. Not because I’m late but because it’s full. I’m standing at the door trying to negotiate with the guy to let me in, after all I’m just one teeny tiny person and I can stand or sit on the floor or on someone’s lap. He wasn’t budging. Then someone left and I said let me in now, you know like a parking garage…one car out, one car in. Still not budging. As I walk away in defeat, trying to figure out what other class to go to, a couple of girls behind me say “he’s going to have another class tomorrow.” And the rest is history. Those two girls were Mary Frances and Anna Joy. We stood at the end of the hall chatting and as it turns out the both live within 20 minutes of my house! Seriously, what are the chances of that? I really want to know, I want someone to calculate the chances. There were photographers from all over the world. We were all tripped out and just took it as a sign that we were meant to be friends so off we went to sit and chat. As we’re sitting there Erin Orias comes up to me and says “Amy?” and I say “no, Amanda, but my sister’s name is Amy and my dad thinks my name is Amy.” She looks a little confused and I say but “you look really familiar.” Turns out we went to the Love Affair workshop last winter! AND she lives in Hollywood, like 45 minutes away!
Since WPPI we have gotten together a few times and decided to get together to shoot each other. We met up in Calabasas and as we get out of our cars a car drives up and the driver asks Mary what kind of camera she has. Well it turns out the driver was a paprazzi just finishing up looking for celebrities for the day! We invited him and his friend to join us as we walked around talking pics. It was pretty interesting hearing about his job.
