For the last 10 years, Mike has always opened the car door for me. It’s the most favorite part of our relationship. I know it sounds weird, but I think that holding the door open for someone is one the most chivalrous things one person can do for another. And I like to believe that chivalry is not dead. Today, as I was leaving a café, a woman saw me coming from kind of far away and she stopped and waited and held the door open for me. It made me stop and think. She didn’t have to do it. But she saw me coming, and my hands were pretty full and she waited for me.
Yesterday was a huge day for me. I launched my promo video and announced that Mike will be joining my team. I was nervous. So nervous. I had this idea in my head and I worked tirelessly for months ensuring that it came together. When I saw it for the first time I loved it, but I was worried that people wouldn’t “get” it. I launched it first thing in the morning. And then I waited. I waited to see what people were going to say. Were they going to like it? Were they going to LOVE it?
In the short time that I have been in the business there have been some amazing people in the photography industry who have come into my life. Well, yesterday all these people showed up and held the door open for me. They not only told me they loved it, but they opened the portal to their world and gave me full access to their friends and family. So I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to Chenin and Jasmine and everyone else who twittered my link for all your friends to see. Thank you to Jen and Scarlett for believing in me before I even owned a camera! Thank you to Scott and Mary of Floataway Studios for being my amazing friends and for producing the video that until a few weeks ago only existed in my head.
If you take a look at the screenshot below, you will see I had just a few more people come to my blog than usual! Many of you said you would be returning and I just want to welcome you and thank you for sticking around. And thank you to all my existing readers too!! Ok, so this is totally turning into a grammy acceptance speech , but I also have to say thank you to my mom who comments on EVERY post, and to BreAnne and Chrissy for telling me everyday that I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn-it people like me.
