Palm Springs Girl’s Trip Portraits

Yesterday, I showed you all the details of my girl trip at the Ace Hotel. Today is the people! A few of us woke up early one morning to take some portraits of each other in the beautiful morning light and before it got too hot. Did I mention it was between 110 and 115 while we were there. Yeah…that’s DEGREES!! The rest of the photos are just hanging out. Like I said yesterday, we had such a great time and I cannot wait for the next trip next year! Pumpkin Patch – Dathan’s First Visit

So, this blog post is pretty much for my mom. Last weekend, we took my nephew, Dathan, to the pumpkin patch for the first time ever and my mom was out of town, so these are for her. Feel free to enjoy them as well! This is my family. One of the photos near the bottom is all my neices and one of my nephews (my other two nephews couldn’t make it). I think Dathan enjoyed the pumpkin patch; he definitely liked the farm animals and the hay mazes.

Briana & Jason {Prego}

I met Briana a few months ago at her cousin, Aundrea’s bridal shower and then again at Aundrea’s wedding. After Briana saw all of her cousin’s photos she decided to commission me to take some photographs of her and her honey, Jason, and their baby bump!

Fun facts:
1. Briana and Jason are due on November 8th which is also Mike’s birthday!
2. They are naming the baby Anthony which is what my name would have been had I been a boy (right mom?).
3. The day of their session was soooo windy that the location we met up at, and that I had planned to use for week’s, wouldn’t do. So we drove around to find shelter from the wind and I think we did a pretty fantastic job!

Michelle & Dusty {Prego}

This weekend I did something I’ve never done before…I shot a maternity session. But not only did I shoot one maternity session, I shot TWO in one weekend. I wasn’t scared, though. I figured it would be like shooting an engagement session with an engorged belly. And I was right.

First up, we have Michelle and Dusty. Michelle and I met in college and had a few classes together. We lost touch after college, but not too long after we realized we were both working for the same company! Even though we were never in the same department we still kept in touch and made plans for lunch every now and again. I knew that Michelle had been wanting to have a baby pretty much the moment she got married. And now it’s happening, I have proof. Meet Easton Reed!

Meet {Scott}

The other day Mike and I were out riding our bikes around the neighborhood and we stopped over at our friend Scott’s house. Scott, Mike, and I all went to the same college (Cal State Channel Islands) so we’ve known each other for a long time now and just recently he moved down the street from us. We got to talking about my photography business and he wrangled me into shooting some pics of him for a new avatar. We got all of this shots within walking distance of his house! You don’t have to go far to get great stuff.

Haha…this is SO Scott!

Ladies, he’s single! If you want his digits hit me up! (Scott, I’m not removing this last line…you can’t make me!)

Wedding {Albums}

I am so excited to reveal the first studio album from the new company I have chosen to go with. This sample album is from Erika and JP’s engagement session in Ventura last month. I designed this album to be a guest sign in book. Instead of having the traditional notebook-style guest sign in book that you’ll never look at again, you can have this yearbook-style notebook that your family and friends can sign and leave their well-wishes. Then you can keep it on your coffee table and look at it all the time! Then pass it along to your grandchildren cuz this puppy is lasting many lifetimes! The quality is so amazing and the pages are so thick. Here are a few shots:

A couple of months ago Jasmine Star announced on her blog that she would have a very important announcement the following day. What could this be?! A workshop?? No way. That would be something that would happen only in MY DREAMS! So I faithfully waited by my Google Reader all day waiting for this announcement. Waited patiently for Jasmine’s name to be bolded in my reader indicating a new message for me. Nothing. What the heck, Jasmine? I’m on the edge of my seat! Finally I ventured directly over to her blog. It was there!! The announcement! THE WORKSHOP! I quickly read through the whole website and thought about how quickly my husband would bury my body if I signed up for ANOTHER workshop. I was simultaneously Instant Messaging my friend “Should I do it? Should I do it?” And she knows, oh she knows how much Jasmine inspires me so she said “Just do it, you know you’ll regret it if you don’t.” I will regret it. I will TOTALLY regret not doing it. So I handed over all my information and went through another round of waiting for the confirmation that I was quick enough on the draw to be one of the lucky twenty to get in. I got in !!! Then I had to wait two months for it to come! But all the waiting was soooooo worth it!

On Tuesday, March 10th twenty of Jasmine’s biggest admirer’s gathered in the clubhouse of Jasmine’s housing community in Irvine, CA. Together we learned about branding in every sense of the word. We got to shoot alongside Jasmine as she shared exactly what was going on in her head. And finally we saw how she processed her images. It was an amazing day. Jasmine is even more inspiring in real life. And her family is amazing. Her husband JD is so sweet and caring. Jasmine’s mom is so wonderful…I started to get a little sunburned so I asked if she had any sunscreen and she ran out and got me some! Such an amazing, welcoming family! And all of the attendees were fabulous! It was such a great group and I can’t wait to see what they all do next in their businesses!

Jasmine, I hope you don’t hate me for posting the image above. I know you said no pictures of you talking or doing anything weird but I just love this one! I would give anything to remember what you were talking about right at this moment.

{Erika} Part 2

Meet {Erika}

We sat next to each other on the first day of first grade. Our teacher sat everyone according to last name; hers started with an A, mine with a B. And we’ve been next to each other ever since! It’s so rare to be given the gift of a friend that’s always by your side. So many friends move away or grow apart but Erika and I stayed together from 1st through 12th grade. In 1st grade all the girls fought over who got to sit next to Erika during reading time. In 12th grade it was just Erika and I hanging out together waiting for school to be over so we could run off to our boyfriends. No matter how many friends came and went we’ve always had each other and I cherish every moment of our lives together. Growing up everyone told Erika she was gorgeous and should model and ever since I got my camera I’ve been dying to get her in front of it. I knew it would be epic and amazing and I’m thrilled to show you what we created!

We started in my house with a huge pile of dresses, shirts, scarves, rings, bracelets, and a few feathers on the bed with several pairs of shoes and boots scattered on the floor. After we assembled a few outfits we went upstairs to my studio to begin shooting. My studio is not set up to be a shooting studio but with bright fuchsia walls, a deep gray wall, a silver damask ottoman, and lots of beautiful window light we had ourselves the perfect starting point. Be forewarned I have about 150 absolute favorites so narrowing it down to showcase a select few is really difficult! I’ll be breaking this down into a few posts to make it a little more digestible. Okay…now get ready to fall in love with Erika…

Then we moved back down to my bedroom for a few shots.

After a quick outfit change we headed into my office/library/guest room. I had Erika sit in a little window seat area.

Then we went down to my dining room. My amazing, deep, perfect PURPLE dining room.

That’s a tidbit of the fun we had indoors. Next up will be our adventures in the construction zone around the corner! I hope you enjoyed these as much as I do and I can’t wait to show you the rest!
