Jeff & Ali {Wedding} Malibu Beach

As Mike and I drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to Ali and Jeff’s Malibu wedding, I could see the thick fog layer as far as the eye can see. And I was happy! So happy! As much as I love playing with sun flare, when near the ocean I love the look of a nice overcast day. I think it makes all these photos so pretty! Thank you so much Ali and Jeff for trusting Mike and I to take these photos for you!

Lisette & John {Wedding} Palm Springs

This is going to be a long one folks! Lisette and John were married in Palm Springs a week ago. There wedding was at a rental house owned and designed by Room Service. It was AMAZING! All of the pictures in the beginning are to show you just how incredibly cool this home was. The details they had to match the color scheme were amazing! And, yes, at the end of this wedding is an old school ice cream truck for dessert! They had an ice cream truck roll up to serve the guests anything they wanted instead of traditional wedding cake. It was such a huge hit! I love when couples do something new and creative and nontraditional. I also love how at the end of the night Lisette changed up her a look a little by adding a black sash and changing her hairpiece.

Also a HUGE thank you and props to the ladies of Sugar Branch Events! It was such a pleasure working with you and I can’t believe how hard you worked all day in that heat!!!

Emily & Nick {Wedding} Westlake Village Photography

Last weekend, Mike and I headed out to the Hyatt in Westlake to photograph the wedding of my good friend Emily and her man, Nick. We had such a great time photographing their wedding, and it’s very evident that they have many people in their lives that love them very much!

Emily went down to the Los Angeles flower mart a few days before her wedding and did all her own flowers!

This her lace bolero over the lampshade:

I think Emily looks like Snow White here! One of my favorite Disney Princesses.

I love this shot that Mike took of the guys on the balcony.

I LOVE babies breath…I’ve never seen it in a boutonniere before.

Nick’s last name, and Emily’s new last name starts with a “G” so she had these blue G’s everywhere.

I loved this little palette of grass with all the placecards nestled into it.

Kristen & Greg {Wedding} Hartley Botanica

You may remember Greg and Kristen from their engagement session a few months ago. Their engagement session is still one of my most favorites! So I was super excited for their wedding. They were married at Hartley Botanica in Somis, CA.

The dress is Maggie Sottero….and guess what my wedding dress was Maggie Sottero too!!! I love having things in common with my brides.

Betsey Johnson shoes:

This little angel pin was pinned to the inner lining of her dress, it’s passed through the family!

All morning long she was talking about the groom’s gift she got for Greg and she was so excited about giving it to him. I’ve never seen someone so excited to give a gift to someone! Here she is reading the text from him after he received it. And the bracelet she’s wearing is his gift to her.

Getting the dress on was a labor of love! Her sister made sure it was done perfectly!

So I’m pretty sure this girls thought I was crazy, but I LOVED the bows on the back of the dresses so I had them all turned around. They might have been a little offended…but I love the bows!!

She got her girls these necklaces:

Kristen set up a cigar bar for Greg complete with a sign with his name! More on this later.

Reaction to dad’s toast:

I really don’t think she liked getting cake on her face but her expression is priceless!

It’s a tradition for the men in the family to sing to the bride. So sweet!!!

So here’s some proof that I do NOT look cute wedding shooting weddings! I wish there was a way to be cute and work for 10-ish hours but not so much. I had to get a picture with me and my past bride Aundrea!!!

Hilary & Brian {Wedding} Oak Meadows

Last Saturday, I drove out to Temecula to shoot alongside the fabulous Jordana of Hazelnut Photography. This was my second time shooting at Oak Meadows, and although it’s a long drive, I certainly hope it’s not my last!

Talk about a grand entrance!

I love when couples laugh a lot of their wedding day.

The sunlight at Oak Meadows was amazing!

Monica & Ali {Wedding} Santa Barbara

Normally, my client booking process looks a little something like this: client emails, I email back, we find a time to meet, they come to my studio, they book, we shoot their engagement session, we laugh and have fun, then we shoot their wedding! That’s a lot of interaction! And I love every second of it. But every once in a while you have someone that breaks the cycle. Monica contacted me several months ago inquiring about wedding photography. She’s from Sacramento planning a wedding in Santa Barbara. So. We had to have our consultation appointment over.the.phone. My phone skills leave a LOT to be desired. (Mike has actually taken over that duty HALLELUJAH!!). So after I got off the phone with Monica and stumbled over every other word, I thought to myself…”well I’ll never hear from her again!” Lo and behold a couple days later she called back saying she wanted to book!

And, boy, am I glad she did! The first time we ever met in real life was on the day of her wedding and it took about 45 seconds to feel like part of the family. Mike got to spend the morning with her fabulous groom, Ali. And by the end of the day we made so many new friends with Monica and Ali’s wonderful friends and family!

Here’s how we saw their day:

Monica got ready at the Fess Parker Doubletree in Santa Barbara. Such a beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds.

My new favorite shoe shot! I love the pink against the pink!

The greatest moment of my life? When I showed Monica the back of the camera after the following picture and she exclaimed: That’s exactly how I wanted to look!!!!

She matched her shoes to her tattoo!

Monica and Ali were wed at the Santa Barbara Courthouse.

I love paisley!

So they brought their dog, Bradley, down for the occasion. In the middle of the ceremony, the priest invited them to take a moment to stop and enjoy their day and look around at their guests. Monica asked “where’s Bradley” and Ali pointed him out to her…she laughed so hard seeing her cute pooch with a bow-tie on!

Ok, Stella Mare’s is the CUTEST restaurant to have a reception. It is a French Country restaurant in Santa Barbara and the portion they had the reception is a greenhouse! And it’s so stinkin’ cute!

Nicole & Mike {Wedding}

My friend Jenny Liu invited me along to shoot this wedding with her. It’s one of the most beautiful weddings that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing and I’m so grateful that I was able to be there!

The ceremony setup…they will be wed under that huge tree! Love!

The aisle was lined with shepherds hooks holding mason jars filled with beautiful flowers.

Flower cones were handmade out of vintage book pages to hold rose petals.

Nicole made these adorable signs for their portraits! So cute.

I thought this next photo was hilarious…I was taking a picture of Nicole as she was walking and Mike stuck the “Mrs.” banner into the photo!

One of my favorite pictures from my own wedding is a picture of us walking away. It seems so symbolic to me…like walking toward your future together!

I think this is my favorite, I love her veil and dress draping over her arm as she holds her bouquet.

Details, details, details! I love great details!

Morgan & Matt {Wedding} Ventura

Brittany and Ian {Wedding} Canada

This little guy was a huge show-stealer. I very easily could have made this entire blog post about him! Brittany was concerned about how he would handle his ring bearer duties and he did a pretty good job! (With mom’s help, of course.)

The food was absolutely delicious!

We all got these adorable suitcases filled with all sorts of goodies.

They had individual mini cakes for the guests. The before and after:
